DIGITAL LIVING NETWORK ALLIANCE

Paris, FRANCE

Awox product now included in official list of DLNA Certified™ devices

Paris, France – March 19, 2008 – Awox announces that its AwoX mediaCTRL™ server for PC has been certified as a DLNA Certified Reference Device by the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA). Awox mediaCTRL middleware is thus validated inside one of the first devices officially identified as being compliant with DLNA v1.5 Digital Media Server (DMS) and Mobile-Digital Media Server (M-DMS).

The certification occurred during DLNA® Reference Device Qualification testing organized in July, 2007. Testing was performed to select reference devices to be used in the interoperability test, which itself is conducted as part of the DLNA Certification test. The Awox device is thus among the first DLNA Certified™ devices that are compliant with the DLNA Networked Device Interoperability Guidelines v1.5. Reference devices will be adopted by official certification vendors located in Japan, US, Europe and Taiwan. They will also be sold to manufactures all around the world for in-house testing.

“We are honored that AwoX mediaCTRL has been selected by DLNA as an official reference and test device,” say Alain Molinié, CEO and co-founder of AWOX. “This shows that our development teams have succeeded in their efforts to adhere to industry guidelines, and that cross-product compatibility in this industry is well on its way to becoming a reality for consumers. We fully intend to continue working in this direction with several industry leaders.”

In addition to its middleware, AwoX also manufactures connected devices for emerging markets such as internet radio, digital media adapters, video-on-demand boxes and network add-on boards for TVs. All these solutions are based on mediaCTRL technology. Several of these embedded platforms are undergoing certification testing for customers, with various profiles (DMP, DMS, M-DMS, M-DMP). AwoX is also ready to certify its products under new profiles introduced by the DLNA Networked Device Interoperability Guidelines v1.5 soon arriving in  the DLNA certification program, such as the Digital Media Renderer and Controller profile (DMR, DMC/M-DMC).
